Privacy Policy — Text Reader

Effective date: July 28, 2026
Last updated: July 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Text Reader ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the App.

The short version

Information processed on your device

The App uses Apple's on-device frameworks to scan and recognize text, read text aloud, search eligible photo-library content, and index content for Spotlight. The following stays on your device:

Photos stored only in iCloud and not downloaded to your device are skipped rather than downloaded for processing. If you tap a detected address, the App may open Apple Maps with that address; this occurs only when you choose that action.

Camera and photo-library permissions

The App requests camera access only when you choose to scan a document. Camera images are used to create your scan and are processed on your device; they are not uploaded by the App.

The App requests photo-library access only when you choose to search eligible photos for text. Your photos are read and searched on your device. You can deny or later revoke either permission in iOS Settings; the related feature will then be unavailable.

Analytics

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand general App usage, such as feature use, search outcomes, and sharing methods. Analytics events are designed to contain counts, categories, and true/false values—not recognized text, search terms, file names, images, or identifiers for a particular photo or document.

Firebase may collect standard mobile analytics information, such as a device-generated identifier, device and operating-system information, and coarse location or language inferred from network information. Where consent is required, we ask for it before enabling analytics. You may decline or change applicable consent in the App's privacy settings.

Advertising

The App displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob. Ad requests may include standard information collected by Google's SDK for ad delivery and fraud prevention, such as device type and general network information. If you allow tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, the device advertising identifier (IDFA) may be used for personalized advertising.

If you decline tracking or ad-personalization consent, you may still see non-personalized advertisements. The App also uses Apple's SKAdNetwork for privacy-preserving advertising attribution. Google does not receive your scanned content, photos, recognized text, or search activity from the App.

In-app purchases

The App offers an optional, one-time, non-consumable purchase to remove advertisements. We use RevenueCat to manage purchase offerings, verify and restore the Remove Ads entitlement, and provide the purchase interface. RevenueCat may process an anonymous App User ID, purchase or transaction information, device identifiers, and related diagnostic information needed to provide the purchase service. RevenueCat does not receive your scanned content, photos, recognized text, or search queries from the App.

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and are subject to Apple's terms and privacy practices. You can restore a previous purchase through the App's Remove Ads screen. For more information, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App changes. We will post the updated policy and revise the "Last updated" date.
